Jon and Jessi // Wedding // Canary Hotel // Santa Barbara, CA

Jon and Jessi's wedding may not have been exactly what they planned or envisioned... i.e. a small destination wedding in Mexico... BUT it had SO much charm and attention to detail for coming together in a relatively short amount of time! When a hurricane damaged the resort where they originally planned to get married, they had to come up with a plan B and Santa Barbara seemed like a good fit, given that they met at UCSB. They chose the Canary Hotel as their venue and hired Shauna at Alegria by Design to pull together the details as quickly as she could. She knocked it out of the park as did all of the vendors who helped Jon and Jessi forget there ever was plan A.

Vintage Botanic Wedding Inspiration // Featured on 100 Layer Cake

I'm doing my happy dance today. And if you've ever seen me eat a molten chocolate lava cake, you know what that looks like.

Today, my images from the fall/winter issue of Louisville Bride are featured on 100 Layer Cake and I couldn't be more proud of the dream team that made this all possible (see below). We were inspired by vintage botanical prints, greenhouses, and lush, wild bouquets. We focused on a berry, blush, and plum color palette with gold accents to enhance all the greenery Yew Dell Botanical Gardens provided as our backdrop. We even got to use the castle on Yew Dell's property to help us capture an old-world spirit. Yes, that's right, I said castle. And can we talk about the gowns, the impeccable florals, the signature cocktail and those gorgeous cakes? They still make me a little weak in the knees when I see them!

I cannot thank 100 Layer Cake enough for loving this wedding inspiration as much as I do. Now, without further ado, here are some of my favorite images.

Secrets of a Stylist workshop

As promised, I am finally allowed to post more images from the Secrets of a Stylist workshop with THE Lady Grey of fame.

It was tough to wait, but so worth it! Green Wedding Shoes has picked up our inspiration story and will be featuring images by me and some of the other workshop attendees. I've personally been admiring Green Wedding Shoes and Grey Likes Weddings for as long as they have been around and couldn't be more proud to see some of my own work featured on their sites.

Whether you're new to the wedding industry or a seasoned pro, I highly recommend attending Summer's workshop. I learned so much about her process and what a wedding blogger looks for in a submission. My future weddings and engagements will surely benefit from the knowledge I've gained.

Here are some of my favorites from the shoot... Now head on over to Green Wedding Shoes and check out their post!

Simon and Alyssa // Destination Wedding // Riviera Maya, Mexico

Simon and Alyssa, an ever-so-hip L.A. music-scene duo, know how to work hard and how to play hard... And what better time to play hard than at your own wedding on the shores of Playa del Carmen, Mexico!

Sometimes I am astounded that it is MY JOB to observe and capture the glow of happiness surrounding two people who are madly in love. It is an infectious feeling. I find myself involuntarily smiling, laughing and crying right there with my couples, behind my camera. Simon and Alyssa's wedding was no exception and possibly the most fun I've had on the job, ever. A close friend of the Bride and Groom performed the Ceremony with heartfelt sentiment and hilarious anecdotes. The guests then enjoyed a steak dinner while sipping Tequila Partida, flown in for the occasion by the maker, also a friend of Alyssa and Simon's. Yeah, they have a lot of friends. Then, everyone took their shoes off to dance the night away in the sandy cabanas to music carefully curated by Simon and Alyssa (as can only be expected from two music enthusiasts). It was one hell of a party and I was honored to be a part of it. Congratulations Simon and Alyssa! Arriba! Abajo! Al Centro! Y Pa'dentro!
