Abby and Miran // Wedding // Louisville, KY

When I met Abby, we were both dance majors at YPAS - the performing arts magnet of duPont Manual High School in Louisville, KY. She came into the program the year after I did and I quickly noticed she was different from a lot of the other girls. She was mature beyond her age and a little weird and sarcastic and quick witted, not to mention a strong and beautiful dancer. All the things I look for in a friend. Even though we didn't stay close over the years after YPAS, I felt a kinship with her from the beginning so to get the call to photograph her wedding was SO exciting. I got to meet Miran for the first time over a Skype session and the three of us could have talked for hours. As you will see below, especially in their first dance photos, they are a perfect match for one another and I couldn't be happier for them.

Stephanie and George // Yew Dell Botanical Gardens // Louisville, KY

As you may have noticed, I haven't blogged any images in a long time. Sadly, it is the one thing that gets bumped from my to-do list when I'm pressed for time. My clients will always come before blogging and updating social media. That being said, I'm feeling very good about being caught up on edits and emails and I am so excited to share what I've been working on over the past 6 months!

This is Stephanie and George's wedding from May of 2014. It was one for the record books. It was an all day marathon of gorgeous details and excited energy. Thanks to an old southern wedding tradition, we had beautiful weather. It is believed that to ensure a rain-free wedding day, a full bourbon bottle must be buried, upside down, at the site of your wedding for exactly one month. That bottle should be dug up and consumed on the day of your wedding. Praise the bourbon gods once again! Stephanie and George also had a not-so-traditional wig party at the end of the night that can only be described in images. I cannot say enough kind words about these two and I hope you enjoy their wedding day images as much as I do.

Vintage Botanic Wedding Inspiration // Featured on 100 Layer Cake

I'm doing my happy dance today. And if you've ever seen me eat a molten chocolate lava cake, you know what that looks like.

Today, my images from the fall/winter issue of Louisville Bride are featured on 100 Layer Cake and I couldn't be more proud of the dream team that made this all possible (see below). We were inspired by vintage botanical prints, greenhouses, and lush, wild bouquets. We focused on a berry, blush, and plum color palette with gold accents to enhance all the greenery Yew Dell Botanical Gardens provided as our backdrop. We even got to use the castle on Yew Dell's property to help us capture an old-world spirit. Yes, that's right, I said castle. And can we talk about the gowns, the impeccable florals, the signature cocktail and those gorgeous cakes? They still make me a little weak in the knees when I see them!

I cannot thank 100 Layer Cake enough for loving this wedding inspiration as much as I do. Now, without further ado, here are some of my favorite images.
