Sometimes a client will come to me with a very strong visual idea of what they want their engagement session or wedding portraits to look like. We will share a pinterest board and talk about concepts and styling - we may even go shopping together for props or clothes. I feel so lucky to have clients like Nicole and Brian with great personal style and creativity, who are willing to experiment and play with ideas. These types of shoots feed my soul and I take full advantage of them when they come around.
A beach/bluff e-session is one of my favorite combinations. I was thrilled when Sami contacted me after having seen some of my work and wanted to shoot their engagement photos at Douglas Family Preserve and Hendry's Beach. It's like my second home! When the light is too strong you have some tree coverage up on the bluffs and when the sun starts to set you get to go play on the beach. If I ever complain about anything - someone please remind me I live in paradise and have my dream job. Now let's all enjoy Sami and Trevor's engagement collection. And take note of the fedora when you see it. It was the hat Sami was wearing when Trevor proposed. *collective AWWWW*
I had the pleasure of meeting Sara and Matt face-to-face for the first time at Hendry's Beach, here in Santa Barbara. They live in Colorado but love to be near the ocean. While drinking celebratory champagne in honor of their newly engaged status, Sara and Matt shared with me the story of how they began their courtship. It was a long game of Cat and Mouse in College before Sara finally agreed to go out with Matt. Soon after, they discovered they share an insatiable love for traveling and exploring. So, it seems perfectly fitting that while on vacation in Hawaii, after an unexpectedly strenuous hike up a crater, Matt proposed and Sara said yes. Now, here they are, living proof that the right one is truly worth waiting for.
As promised, I am finally allowed to post more images from the Secrets of a Stylist workshop with THE Lady Grey of greylikesweddings.com fame.
It was tough to wait, but so worth it! Green Wedding Shoes has picked up our inspiration story and will be featuring images by me and some of the other workshop attendees. I've personally been admiring Green Wedding Shoes and Grey Likes Weddings for as long as they have been around and couldn't be more proud to see some of my own work featured on their sites.
Whether you're new to the wedding industry or a seasoned pro, I highly recommend attending Summer's workshop. I learned so much about her process and what a wedding blogger looks for in a submission. My future weddings and engagements will surely benefit from the knowledge I've gained.
Here are some of my favorites from the shoot... Now head on over to Green Wedding Shoes and check out their post!
